A COUPLE was found dead inside their rented room in Maracas, Barangay Lahug yesterday afternoon.
Senior Insp. Samson Go, deputy chief of the Mabolo Police Station, said that the couple, identified as Jerson Lawas, 28, and Pruana Apole, 48, who were live-in partners, were discovered at 5:15 p.m.
“The woman was found in the living room with several stab wounds on her body and the man was lying inside another room with a gunshot wound on the head,” Go said.
Go said that homicide investigators found a caliber .38 revolver near Lawas’ body and the authorities believed that the couple had a fight before the tragedy.
“We are looking at the possibility that the man may have stabbed his partner during the height of their fight and later shot himself,” Go said.
The knife used to stab Apole has yet to be recovered.
“The victim’s fellow renters smelled a foul odor coming out of the couple’s room. So they alerted the police,” Go said.
Apole was a businesswoman from Leyte.
Go said the couple may have died at dawn of the same day and that there was no other party involved.
Homicide investigators have yet to determine the circumstances behind the couple’s death as they were still processing the scene as of press time. (JOB)
