ENVIRONMENTAL group Green Alert Network (GAN) assailed the supposed “win-win” solution by the Provincial Government on the proposed industrial zone in Hinobaan town.
The group, in a press statement, asked Vice Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson why he would say the Capitol is looking for a “win-win” solution when there are no documents to support his claim.
“It is clearly illegal and violates the right of the people which is evidently bad faith and promotion of personal interest of its proponents over the interest and welfare of the whole community,” the group said.
They added that the “blue prints, maps and other documents officially requested by the group from the Office of the Governor, Vice Governor, and the municipality of Hinobaan were never furnished.”
The Municipal Government has a resolution reclassifying the land into industrial zone which is pending at the Provincial Board.
The Capitol had expropriated the property of the defunct Insular Lumber Company to make way for the construction of a Japanese shipbuilding facility.
Provincial Agrarian Reform program officer II Lucrecia Taberna earlier confirmed that the property has Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (Carp) coverage.
Green Alert coordinator Randy James Rojo said the areas covered by Carp is non-negotiable.
“It cannot be the subject of negotiation between the Department of Agrarian Reform and the province for reclassification into an industrial zone because whatever agreement that they could reach leading to said reclassification is against public policy,” he pointed out. (MPE)
