Oro Shakey’s Girls’ V-League on

HOST St. Mary’s School Fiat and Xavier University High School are favored to hurdle their respective matches in Saturday's opening of the Shakey’s Girls’ V-League Season 13’s pre-qualifying tourney at St. Mary’s School’s covered court in Barangay Macasandig, Cagayan de Oro City.

With the heftier tandem of Erika Raagas and Kaye Navarro still around, the SMS Fiat are deemed to go for a flat out win against the Oro Christian Grace School in one of the scheduled Saturday morning matches.

“Medyo pabor man gud sa experience ang SMS aside from the fact that Erika (Raagas) was among the few locals here who were selected to beef up Iligan team that qualified to see action in last year’s National Shakey’s Girls’ V-League in Manila,” one avid volleyball follower shared in a casual conversation with this writer.

Reliable spiker Ranielle Rosales will be in the forefront again as the XUHS volleybelles of coach Angeliz Ano-os take on the Capitol University Basic Education Department (Cubed).

Last year’s top 3 teams -- Iligan National High School, Liberted National High School and Corpus Christi School -- are already seeded to the regional elimination set on August 28-31 at the newly-upgraded Corpus Christi gym.

In lieu of Corpus Christi-Macasandig is its Corpus Christi-Pueblo counterpart, which will debut against fellow newcomer Jasaan National High School.

Also participating are Angelicum Learning Center, MOGCHS, Merry Child School, Bulua NHS, Carmen NHS, Tagoloan NHS, Puerto NHS, PN Roa NHS and Cobsat-Bugo. (LLS)
