MORE than 500 stakeholders are expected to join in the Crime Prevention Summit on October 2 at Grand Men Seng Hotel.

The conference aims to inform the public and seek support from the communities in coming up with a unified effort to effectively combat crimes in the Davao City.

Davao City Police Office (DCPO) director Alexander Tagum said on Wednesday, September 27, during the AFP-PNP media forum at The Royal Mandaya Hotel that in line with the Anti-Crime Prevention Month, they will initiate an event to elevate public awareness on crime statistics of the city.

They have identified and selected homeowners association presidents, security officers and barangay chairpersons in Davao City.

Tagum said that criminals have shifted their targets to private subdivisions and residences after the police have succeeded in the implementation of the Oplan Iron City or the Integrated Revitalized Operation of Neighborhood Watch of the Mega City that resulted to the decline of criminal incidents on the streets.

"We will again improvise and adapt to the current trend ng mga criminals. We will also penetrate private subdivisions," Tagum said.

During the event, he said the DCPO units including the operation, intelligence, investigation operation and police community relation staff will provide inputs on the security situation in Davao City.

The investigation branch will brief the participants on the crime trend, the actual situation and crime statistic that happened in the past, how it has evolved while the intelligence branch will give further information on the rogue galleries, crime gangs, crime groups operating in the city and terrorist groups that would possibly enter the city. The pictures and identification of the groups will also be presented.

"Our operation will provide information on how crimes have evolved in such a way we will identify affected areas, crime map wherein saan prevalent crime incidents in the past we will also provide crime clock or the time of incidents na prevalent in our city," Tagum added.

The PCR will also discuss different modus operandi of criminals and provide techniques to prevent being duped by criminals.
