A NEW crime prevention program of the Davao City Police Office (DCPO), dubbed as Oplan Iron Fortress (Fortification of Residences towards a Restful Environment that is Secured and Safe) will soon be rolled out.
The program targets exclusive residences and subdivisions.
Police Senior Superintendent Alexander Tagum said on Wednesday, September 27, that they have already submitted their recommendation to Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio last week for another strategy in fighting crimes in exclusive residences.
However, they have yet to receive the approval but they are confident that they will get the mayor's nod.
He said the program has three parts: the call to action, community empowerment and public awareness campaign.
On Monday, September 25, they will gather the security officers of the homeowners associations and malls along with barangay captains to get their support.
Tagum said under the program, they will also intensify the security monitoring in the inner part through close coordination with barangay officials and security officers to align their efforts for a more effective crime prevention move.
"The second part is the community empowerment through the conduct of trainings to empower our community to conduct ronda patrol sa mga subdivision which is already beyond the police patrol of the DCPO," Tagum said.
He added they will be giving out an initial of 1,000 manuals containing security tips.
"The third part of our program is public awareness campaign. We intend to provide personal home family security handbook or manual and contingency action checklist to provide them tips on how to counter crime elements in Davao City," he said.
DCPO is waiting for the approval of the budget to start the printing of the manuals. They will distribute at least one manual or manual for each head of the family and they will prioritize first those in crime-prone communities.
The program targets crimes involved in property and personal crimes.
