BACOLOD City Councilor Em Ang urged the City Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) to put up emergency response teams in the Masskara Festival sites.
Ang, who authored the resolution for the purpose, said that from October 1 to 22, MassKara will be celebrated throughout Bacolod City, and the Tourism Strip on Lacson Street, Bacolod Public Plaza, and the Bacolod City Government Center are the places where most people gather and most of the events are being observed.
She said the emergency response team will be the first on-scene responders to emergency and untoward incidents that may happen.
Ang noted that Section 16 of Republic Act 7160 states that, “local government units shall ensure and support, among other things, the preservation and enrichment of culture, promote health and safety, enhance the right of the people to a balanced ecology, encourage and support the development of appropriate and self-reliant scientific and technological capabilities, improve public morals, enhance economic prosperity and social justice, promote full employment among their residents, maintain peace and order, and preserve the comfort and convenience of their inhabitants.”
“There is a need to have emergency response teams positioned in the said places to maximize the response time in cases of emergencies,” she added. (MAP)
