60 residents in Cabancalan flee due to landslide

AT LEAST 60 residents in Barangay Cabancalan, Mandaue City, were evacuated after a portion of the river bank in the area collapsed this Friday afternoon, September 29.

According to Vice Mayor Carlo Fortuna, the residents were mostly employees of Treasurer Island Company, which is located a few meters away from the affected area.

The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) recorded at least 17 houses that were affected of the landslide at 3:30 p.m.

Personnel from CDRRMO, Accident Control and Emergency Rescue Team, and Traffic Enforcement Agency of Mandaue were already there to assist the families.

No one was reportedly injured. (FMG)
