Core Pacific moves up to 2nd place in Shaabaa

THE 2000 Core Pacific improved its standing in the 22nd Sacred Heart-Ateneo Alumni Basketball Association after beating 1994 Filmon Finishing Studio, 64-38, in their Division B game last Wednesday at the SHS-AdC old campus.

The win put Core Pacific in second place in their division to improve their chances of making the next round.

Meanwhile, Chick@Phil-backed Batch 1989 finally ended a winless campaign as they defeated the 1992 Silver Anniversary Batch, 50-44, in their last match of the elimination round.

Their win also capped the 1992 squad’s campaign, ending the elimination round without a single win.

Chick@Phil banked on a strong first quarter game and made the 17-8 lead a cushion when Batch 1992 clawed back in the next three quarters.

Samuel Uy scored 20 points, Jun Divinagracia added 16 points and nine rebounds, and team owner Marcelino Co came short of a double-double finish with his nine points and nine rebounds. Chick@Phil wound up its elimination round with 1-9 card.

Division C defending champions 2007 Petron Global Carrier, meanwhile, survived a low-scoring game before pulling a 29-27 win over the 2013 Hykos to improve 8-2 with one game left to play in the elimination round.

The 2015 People’s General also improved to 8-2 after beating 2005 Bizol 52-44. Batch 2006 Prince Warehouse fortified its hold of fourth place following a 69-49 win over the 2014 Bling Nation. The 2008 Cottonseed are going strong for a No. 6 finish after beating 2011 Bling Nation 60-34 in the other game. (RCM)
