Murder suspect not a 911 operative

CENTRAL 911 Chief Emmanuel Jaldon clarified that the suspect behind the killing of a fishermen in Astorga, Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur, is not their operative contrary to reports.

The police identified the suspect as Manolito Demasugid, driver of a patrol car in Talomo Police Precinct who shot Geronimo Montiso, 52, who succumbed to gunshot wounds, after a heated altercation and then fled to unknown location.

"The driver involved in a murder incident in Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur is a Police Mobile Patrol driver. He is not a Central 911 operative," Jaldon said.

He added that they have no direct hold on the suspect, as they are only responsible for their personnel.

"We only directly handle emergency medical technicians, rescue technicians, fire auxiliary firemen and K9 handlers. We only facilitate their employment records. They are operationally under the police," Jaldon said.

Meanwhile, Davao City Police Office director Senior Superintendent Alexander Tagum told Sun.Star Davao that the civilian driver was already turned over to Sta. Cruz Davao del Sur last Thursday.
