THE City Government of Davao warned the public on Friday about an imminent danger of landslides in the vicinity of Shrine Hils and Diversion Road in Barangay Langub fronting the old dump site.
Davao City Information Office, in a statement Friday afternoon, warned the people residing close to the area, which has been identified as a highly dangerous zone.
"Once a landslide occurs, the highway could also be affected and this might pose danger to motorists," CIO said.
The CIO also said that the Davao City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Center of Davao, noted ground cracks on the upper portion of the hill, which indicated movements.
CDRRMO also informed the Davao City Engineer's Office (CEO) and the Department of Public Works and Highways on the situation and recommended immediate installation of early warning signages along the highway for motorists and for people living within danger zones.
The same office also advised property owner of a surplus vehicles shop to immediately stop the excavation of slope walls as these activities could trigger landslides.
CDRRMO also issued warning notices to people living in danger zones.
The same agency also requested the CEO to issue "No Habitation Notice" to a religious group that is constructing a building on top of the hill.
A heavy downpour was experienced by the city on Friday afternoon.
