September 2017 musings: Ease & relaxation

AFTER a marathon of events during the Kadayawan month, September was winding down time.

It was started with a trip to Dumaguete where all I did was eat and sleep. No long bus rides, no cave exploration, dolphin watching, sea dipping, just eat and sleep.

Back in Davao, attended a few events that revolves around ease and relaxation.

Pampering at the new Elsysia Wellness Spa near you.

Who doesn’t want pampering? If I had a choice I want a body or foot massage every day. I have a few spas I regularly visit and Elysia Spa is becoming a favorite.

The spa was conceived to provide jobs. With this as her goal, Cherry Al-ag sent a select group of women to train in the spa industry and opened the first Elysia Spa in Toril.

Good intentions are always rewarded. Soon after, Elysia expanded from south to north of the city— in Bangkal, Eden Nature Park, then in Obrero, while providing its services to two of Davao’s best hotels.

Elysia Spa regulars in the north can rejoice. Recently, the fifth branch was inaugurated at the Go Hotels in Lanang.

It was a small opening celebration attended by family and friends of Elysia. I also got to meet the daughter of Cherry and Bernie the spa was named after.

With five branches and perhaps eyeing for more, Elysia is not only taking relaxation closer to your homes, but also providing livelihood to the community.

Congratulations Elysia!

5/5 apples for the service.

The ease of getting married in a designer gown.

If you plan to wear a Francis Libiran when you walk down the aisle, then you're in luck because the designer is coming to Davao for you.

The Manila-based designer will have a trunk show in November at the Marco Polo hotel. Presented will be the ready-to-wear wedding gowns and other bride necessities.

“The Francis Libiran Bridal collection was created for the busy and career-oriented busy brides who can't find time for regular fittings a couture gown requires,” said Francis Libiran.

If budget is a consideration, the RTW gowns are made affordable at about a third of what a couture piece will cost.

Instead of the brides going to Manila the designer will meet them in Davao for consultation, fittings and measurements, plus a makeover for a glimpse of the wedding day look.

After six months, your made-to-measure gown can be mailed to your doorstep, pick-up at the Manila store or delivered on the designer’s next trip to Davao. Then you're ready to walk down the aisle.

Interested? For booking, email FrancisLibiranBridal@gmail.com or call Geof at 0925-302-6686.

5/5 apples for the convenience.

Images of peace.

I keep hearing Marawi is a beautiful city and the MindanaOnce exhibit at the Abreeza Mall gave me a glimpse of what it was once—peaceful.

The collaboration truly works with the totem poles, an imposing sculpture, photographs and painting in mixed medium grab attention and invite passersby for a closer look.

Finally I get a glimpse of what Marawi was once and I left wishing that it will be peaceful once again—soon.

Let’s all pray for peace in Marawi.

MindanaOnce exhibit at the Abreeza Mall will run until October 18, 2017

5/5 apples for the putting peace and forward.
