ENGINEER Mario Macatangay is no longer needed in the Bacolod City Water District (Baciwa) as there is no more vacancy in the position of the general manager, said Baciwa Employees Union president Claudio Salmo.

Salmo's reaction came after the Baciwa Board of Directors unanimously passed a resolution on June 11 this year requesting the Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA) to extend the terms of Macatangay as interim general manager and Alfredo Bayanin as Baciwa director for another year.

Salmo said over Aksyon Radyo Bacolod there is no more use to recall the interim general manager, because the Civil Service Commission has cleared Baciwa general manager Juliana Carbon of the administrative complaint filed against her last year.

Former Baciwa director Marichi Fong Ramos filed a complaint on various grounds against Carbon and 66 other Baciwa employees due to disrespect to authority, abandonment of work during office hours, and defiance to policy, among others. [Read the related story here.]

The LWUA assigned Macatangay as Baciwa interim general manager in August 2014 after Carbon was suspended.

Macatangay had earlier admitted that he was in an awkward situation where he filled in the supposed functions of the general manager, but he said

he came to Baciwa with nothing but good intentions.
