Santa Rita parish to host Marian exhibit

SANTA RITA -- Images depicting the life of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the different titles accorded to her are now on exhibit at the Santa Rita Parish this October.

On display will be images coming from different art collectors depicting scenes from the biblical life of Mary and from popular tradition.

The exhibit features the images of Mary under the titles and honors accorded by the Roman Catholic Church and the people and communities all over the world. The images range from the events in the life of Mary both from the Bible and Roman Catholic tradition, as well as popular titles and representations unique to the Philippines.

Romy Dizon, focal person for the event, said the exhibit will run until the end of September and is open for free to the public. The event is a sort of public catechism on the Roman Catholic belief on Mary.

Marian images will be brought in from different religious art enthusiasts from the different barangays here and neighboring parishes in Guagua, Sasmuan, Lubao and Bacolor for the event.

The event is part of the regular exhibits of the parish. The parish also has the Museo ning Parokya nang Santa Rita de Cascia which is located at the second floor of the old convent building attached to the old parish church. The building, which was restored in 1994, now houses the historical artifacts, contemporary and antique images, as well as old furnishings of the church and its old rectory.

The facility also offers a tour of the church, which houses the first-class relic of Saint Rita. Tourists may also visit the recently restored bell tower of the parish, which is accessible through the parish rectory.
