THE National Government Portal (NGP) under the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), which aimed to connect the government websites for easier access can now cater to more than 100 online services.
During the Asean ICT Masterplan 2020 Forum held at the Royal Mandaya Hotel last Friday, September 29 DICT Davao Regional Director Leo Ugto discussed the achievements and the different projects that the department had launched for the year.
The national government portal, which can be accessed through www.gov.ph, is “envisioned as a one-stop gateway uniting all web-based government content to maximize efficiency and provide rapid, high-quality services to netizens... The design allows Government-to-Government (G2G), Government-to-Citizen (G2C), Government-to-Business (G2B) services and vice-versa to occur all in one venue.
Ugto said included in these 102 online services are passport appointment, request for civil registry documents, registration for TIN, and registration of permits in economic zones among others.
Currently, there are eight government agencies that use the NGP. This includes the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) for birth, death, marriage, and UMID registries; the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) for registry of professionals; and the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) for Registry System of Basic Sectors (RSBSA) for farmers and fisherfolks registry.
The NGP also includes business records of the Securities and Exchange
Commission (SEC), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), and the registry of cooperatives of the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA).
The vessel registry of the Maritime Industry Authority (MIA) and facilities registry of the Department of Health (DOH)/PHIC are also available in NGP.
DICT is mandated by the law through Republic Act 10844 or the DICT Act of 2015 to “harmonize all national ICT plans and initiatives including the NGP.”
