I BELIEVE in inprovement in our infrastructure, but I do not believe in paying for an unfinished project. Here in the north of Cebu, everyone can see unfinished road projects that have already been paid for and not to anyone’s satisfaction but maybe already signed off with final payments.
There are projects where the drainage system being built starts and ends nowhere, and drainage systems that drain into private properties, thus flooding the area. These projects were built but are of no value to the area except to create concrete parking and storage areas for private use.
Where in the world do we have four-lane roads and bridges with feeder that are only two lanes? We need competent engineers and lawmakers to plan our expenditures and not just build at random or maybe to collect money for them. Do we need to spend all of the budgeted money for projects whether these are needed or not? Let’s use some common sense and spend more in education for we have so many people who still can’t read or write.--Alfredo Acopan
Reports say that the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections will be postponed next for next year but the Commission on Elections (Comelec) is still acting like the polls would be held as scheduled.
Comelec is even now already implementing a gun ban and arrested four people in Cebu. All for an election that is sure to be postponed. Naunsa na ni uy.--Delia Destacamento, Cebu City
