Animal welfare in partnership with rescue group

THE City of Bacolod has partnered with the Community Animal Rescue Efforts Inc. (Care-Bacolod) to underscore its efforts in promoting animal welfare.

A series of activities were held for the Bacolod Animal Welfare Awareness Week (Bawaw) set until October 4, including the photo exhibit at the 2nd Level, North Wing of SM City Bacolod.

Councilor Wilson Gamboa Jr., main proponent of the ordinance setting the Bacolod Animal Welfare Awareness Week, said he hopes celebration will continue for many years to come in the city’s effort to make Bacolod an animal-friendly city.

Another activity was the free anti-rabies vaccination held at the Annex Building of the Bacolod City Government Center in observance of the World Rabies Day on September 28.

On Friday, September 29, the organizers inaugurated the Care Clinic Center located in Barangay Mandalagan.

Gamboa, Care-Bacolod president Carol Khia, executive assistant Ernesto Pineda, and Pastor Jun Villamin led the ribbon-cutting and blessing ceremonies for the opening of the clinic at Purok Kametal.

Before the inauguration, a motorcade traveled from the Bacolod City Government Center to the Care Clinic Center.

On Sunday, October 1, they held the “Dine with the PAWS” at Vikings in SM City Bacolod.

The week-long event will conclude with celebration of the St. Francis of Assisi World Animal Day on October 4.
