THE Food and Drug Administration (FDA) warns the public of purchase, selling, and consumption of 18 food items and food supplements that are unregistered but are still offered for sale in the market.
In a statement, FDA said the eight Healing Galing food products with therapeutic claims were unregistered, namely: Healing Galing Rhizome Pills, Herbal Serpentina Tablets, Omega 3 Fish Oil, Organic Vitamins B1 and B6, Organic Vitamin B12, Healing Food, Black Rice Coffee, and Pure Honey. These products had been advertised in their website healinggaling.ph.
FDA had also warned against trade and consumption of 10 unregistered food supplements which includes Ampalaya Capsules, Ashitaba Food Supplement, Banaba Capsules, Banaba Food Supplement, Bignay Capsules, Lagundi Capsules, Natural Herb Lagundi Food Supplement, Sambong Capsules, Natural Herb Spirulina Food Supplement, and Taheebo Capsules.
These food products and supplements had been found out to be violating through the FDA post-market surveillance (PMS) activities.
As per Republic Act 9711 or the Food and Drug Administration Act of 2009, “manufacture, importation, exportation, sale, offering for sale, distribution, transfer, non-consumer use, promotion, advertising or sponsorship of health products without the proper authorization of FDA is prohibited.
