DAVAO City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio said that the Davao City Legal Office already came out with the appointment letters for the members of Davao City Peace Committee.
In a media interview on Wednesday, October 4, the mayor said that the appointment papers were already sent to committee head retired Judge Ridgway Tanjili, and other committee members.
The peace members are Maria Luisa Bermudo of the City Social Services and Development Office, Lawyer Elisa Lapina of the City Legal Office, Barangay Malabog chief Jessielito Areja, and Archbishop Romulo Valles of the Catholic Church.
Duterte-Carpio said that the Davao City Peace Committee is a venue to open channels to talk with the communist group.
"We are just opening channels to talk, and the City Government has assigned persons to talk with them," she said.
Duterte-Carpio said that the committee will only be good until November 2018.
“If there are no significant developments and movement in the localized process, we will pursue other options to attain peace," she said in a previous interview. (KVC)
