MANY establishments inspected by the Department of Labor and Employment (Dole)-Davao violated the Occupational Security and Health Standard (OSHS).
Dole-Davao, in a statement, said 80.9 percent of the total 1,957 inspected establishments as of last month did not pass the OSHS requirement due to lack of implementation.
The top violation committed against OSHS is the absence of first aid equipment and a two or more safety personnel.
It is then followed by non-compliance of administrative reports on health and safety, and absence of personal protective equipment (PPE) and fire protection equipment or facilities.
Others, however, lacked establishment registration documents.
Dole-Davao added that 76.3 percent of the total inspected establishments failed to implement the minimum wage range. Some workers receive salaries below the minimum wage required in Davao Region.
The minimum salary for non-agriculture and service sector with more than 10 employees is P340 while P335 for agriculture, the labor department said.
Meanwhile, 69.6 percent of the establishments also failed to give monetary benefits such as holiday pay, 13th month pay and overtime pay.
"In the Labor Laws Compliance System (LLCS), we give them notice of result after the inspection for them to act upon the lapses recorded by our inspectors," Dole-Davao said.
The establishments will be given three to 90 days after receipt to attend to the needed improvements mandated by Dole inspectors and will be revisited after 100 days to assess the compliance of the establishments.
Failure to comply, Dole-Davao said, will be docketed as a case and will be obliged to attend a mandatory conference with the department.
