THE Kean Gabriel Hotline has recorded a total of 10,658 prank calls from January to October 2017.
Davao City Social Services and Development Office Quick Response Team of Children's Concern (CSSDO-QRTCC) head Juenalyn Pablo, during the I-Speak media forum on Thursday, thus advised the public to be responsible in making calls to their hotline.
"This coming October 27, it will be the first year anniversary after its launching last October 2016, our data, pataas, pababa, naay months nga mumubo ang atong cases pero ang among gusto pakusgan unta is atong katawhan nga maging responsible sa pagtawag kay nagataas ang among prank call (Our data is fluctuating, there are months were we have few cases but what we really want to push is for the citizens to be responsible in making calls since our prank calls have been rising),” she said.
She added that last July, prank calls reached up to 2,843 and in August it reached up to 2,932.
“Puro gara-gara, mga out of topic, ginahimo lang nila nga kataw-anan ang hotline since accessible kaayo siya sa cellphone (They make fun of the hotline since it is very accessible through the cellphone),” she said.
Pablo asked the public to only report what is necessary.
She added that Kean Gabriel should also not be used a means to retaliate, especially among those involved in family feuds.
“Panawagan namo naay mga calls to naay conflict ang families himuon ang Kean Gabriel og patagam, nga kung pwede respect sa family kay naay uban ay makabalos. Naa mi confirmed case, during sa among pag-rescue na-detain jud ang mama for one night, nag-celebrate daw tong nag-report (I ask the public, especially for families to not use the hotline to retaliate against one another. Use this to help other families. We had a confirmed case, when during our rescue the mother was detained for one night and we found out that the person who reported her celebrated because of this),” she said.
