THE Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Cagayan de Oro City (CIDG-CDOC) has arrested an incumbent village chief of Libona, Bukidnon after seizing from his possession several high-powered guns, bullets and bomb components on Friday, October 6.
Through a court order, authorities raided and searched the house of the suspect, Eleazar Ibona, 58, and incumbent barangay chairman of Gango, Libona town.
Seized from the suspect's possession were M14 rifle; a CZ 858 rifle; a caliber .22 rifle Ruger; caliber .22 rifle with a suppressor chamber; a Glock 9mm; a caliber 45; several ammunition; and around five kilograms of Ammonium Nitrate (Anfo), a primary component of explosive.
Senior Police Officer 4 (SPO4) Noel Oclarit, City Executive Senior Police Officer of the CIDG-CDOC), said villagers have complained that the suspect frequently carryies the long barrel guns, which prompted authorities to conduct surveillance operations and apply for search warrants.
Oclarit said most of the confiscated firearms are not licensed while others will be verified from the police national headquarters in Camp Crame.
"Sa balaod, usa ra gyud ka armas ang hawiran sa usa ka barangay kapitan pero kani nahimong illegal possession kay walay mga papel ug license. Ang uban i-verify nato sa Camp Crame," Oclarit said.
"Accordingly confiscated ni niya pero dili siya allowed nga mogunit ani. Pwede unta ni niya i-turn over sa local police para ma-process," Oclarit added.
Oclarit said the chemicals for making bombs that was seized was allegedly used by the suspect for his alleged illegal mining activities.
Oclarit said they are still investigating the background of the suspect if he is involved with other illegal activities apart from illegal mining.

The CIDG-CDOC will charge the suspect with illegal possession of firearms and ammunitions (RA10591) and illegal possession of explosives (RA 9516) on Monday, October 9.
