Police arrest 2 motorcylists at checkpoint

TWO persons were arrested last Friday afternoon during a checkpoint operation on H. Abellana St. in Canduman, Mandaue City.

Jerry Capangpangan Noval was arrested at 3 p.m. for alleged possession of illegal drugs and for resisting a person in authority.

Noval, 23, single and a resident of Proper Lataban, Liloan, Cebu, tried to avoid the checkpoint but was trapped by the police.

Police asked for his driver’s license and registration papers for the black Motor Honda XRM 125 (6001 YA) he was driving.

The arresting officers found his registration was expired.

Tinfoil

The officers frisked Noval and found in his possession a small sachet of suspected shabu and two aluminum strips of tinfoil.

The arresting officers were Senior Insp. Rommel Luga, PO3 Kenneth Perocho and PO1 Felicio Orvin.

Thirty minutes later, police caught Jonjie Tecson Sanchez carrying an expired registration for his motorcycle, Honda XRM 125 (7TC-12173).

Cubacub

Sanchez, 27, single and a resident of Purok 5, Lower Brgy. Cubacub, Mandaue City, also tried to avoid the checkpoint.

Police frisked him and found one improvised tooter and one blue lighter with a stainless tube attached.

The arresting officers were Senior Insp. Rommel Luga, PO2 Ryan Diamada and PO1 Halid Omar.

Noval and Sanchez were also issued with citation tickets for driving unregistered vehicles.
