Abad, Castillo reveal baby's gender

HUSBAND-AND-WIFE Jake Paul Castillo and Kaye Abad revealed they’re expecting a baby boy during a gender-reveal party at Grillers Steakhouse Cebu.

The couple said, however, that they already knew the gender of the child prior to the reveal party but wanted to keep it a secret from everyone else. Abad’s initial reaction when she found out was pure joy since she always wanted a boy for a first child.

“I was so happy ‘cause I really wanted a boy first so he can be a ‘Kuya.’ He would serve as someone who can protect—if ever the younger one is a girl, he can take care of her,” she said.

Castillo, though, wanted a girl as the eldest because he feels that an “Ate”would be more responsible.

Abad, now six months pregnant, also felt overwhelmed with blessings since Castillo had proposed to her on her birthday last year and she found out around the same time this year that she is pregnant.

As for baby names, the couple said they don’t want to make an announcement for now since they haven’t made up their minds yet. Abad is also thankful that her pregnancy hasn’t been too difficult so far.

“I’m having a hard time with the sweets since I’ve been craving sweets so much. But other than that, everything’s fine,” the actress said.

And despite being six months pregnant, Abad has evidently still managed to keep her figure.

“They say when you’re pregnant, you’re eating for two. But my doctor said it’s fine to just eat enough for yourself because if you eat ‘for two,’ that’s when you get big and the baby gets big then you’d need a cesarean (section),” said Abad.

She said it’s going to take a while for her to return to showbiz.

“My priority is my baby right now and if showbiz is really for me, it can wait naman. (The baby and creating a) family is more critical since I’m not young anymore,” said Abad.

Cebu-based businessman Castillo supports her decision to step back a little from showbiz.

“I’m not stopping her naman from doing what she wants kasi passion naman niya talaga ‘yun. As long as okay lang ‘yung baby namin,” said Castillo.

Abad also plans to have her baby shower here in Cebu soon. (Cherizar Maxine Magat, USJ-R Intern)
