THE Davao City Transportation and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO) tapped Monday, October 9, around 10 buses to ferry stranded passengers going to north and south areas of the city.
CTTMO Chief Dionesio Abude, in an interview after the weekly flag ceremony, said they have tapped bus companies to assist stranded commuters.
"We will coordinate with a bus company so that in case there will be stranded passengers, we will have buses on standby here at Quezon Park and Rizal Park," he said.
He said they will deploy the buses once they have monitored stranded passengers.
He said that out of 10 buses, five will be deployed south, while another five will be deployed to north.
The bus company they tapped is also willing to add more buses if necessary.
A public service announcement issued by the Davao City Government on Monday morning stated that the buses will serve as an alternative mode of transport to passengers who may be stranded due to the current traffic situation following the clearing operations being done at the landslide area in Diversion Road.
The announcement also read that the bus deployment started at 3 p.m. Monday at Quezon Park fronting City Hall.
Abude advised passengers to be earlier than usual in going to their destinations considering the heavy traffic.
As of Monday, Abude said that Carlos P. Garcia, corner Ma-a Diversion road going to Matina Pangi is temporarily closed.
He said that from north area like Panacan, light vehicles may pass through Sasa to R. Castillo Street to Quimpo Boulevard to McArthur Highway or use J.P. Laurel Avenue. Light vehicles may also pass C.P. Garcia left turn to Shrine going to McArthur Highway.
He added that trucks, buses, and other heavy vehicles may use the C.P. Garcia diversion road left turn to Ma-a road going to Mcarthur Highway.
He said that those from south area like Toril and Ulas, trucks and heavy vehicles can pass through McArthur Highway left turn to Ma-a Road and right turn to C.P Garcia Diversion Road.
Light vehicles can also use Quimpo Boulevard through R. Castillo Street or Cabagiuo Avenue to J.P Laurel or pass through Dacudao instead.
Abude said that those in Calinan area, light vehicles may use crossing Fausta, right turn to Talandang, Carmen, going to Magtuod, left turn to C.P Garcia or through to Maa Road and vice versa.
He said they advise trucks not to traverse Quimpo Boulevard to avoid heavy traffic.
He also advised drivers to check the condition of their vehicles and to also avoid traffic accidents that will further delay traffic.
