Bacolod hotels, pension houses fully-booked for MassKara

BACOLOD City Tourism officer Ma. Elma Gerasmo said Monday, October 9, the tourism accommodation establishments in the city are already fully-booked for the 38th MassKara Festival.

Gerasmo said most of the visitors booked accommodations as early as July after the City Council approved an ordinance setting the fourth Sunday of October as permanent schedule of the festival highlights.

Bacolod has a total of 71 accommodation facilities with a maximum capacity of 5,950 rooms in hotels, pension houses, tourist inns, resorts, and apartelles.

“The tour operators are also connecting not only in other regions, but also outside the country promoting the Masskara Festival for visitors to have early accommodation bookings,” she added.

Again this year, thousands of MassKara revelers, including foreigners, are expected to arrive for the highlights of the festival.

Gerasmo said bloggers from Hawaii will also join the highlights.

“We are coordinating with various hotels and pension houses if they could still accommodate our visitors,” she said.

Gerasmo pointed out that the fixed date of the MassKara Festival is a big help for the visitors, especially overseas Filipinos, to have early bookings.

In 2016, the influx of tourists in Bacolod increased by 14 percent.

“This year, we expect that this will increase by 20 percent,” she said.

Gerasmo said that visitors can also use the accommodation facilities of the neighboring cities and municipalities during the festival.
