THE Davao City Council approved on third and final reading last Tuesday, October 10, the allowable land use for the construction of a new hospital in Calinan District.
Doctor Gener Rubio Jr., president of the Calinan Medical Specialist Inc., applied for the allowable use of a certain parcel of land with a total land area of 10,162 square meters at De Lara Street, Calinan District, Davao City.
Based on the draft of the resolution, the proposed two-storey level 2 hospital is situated on a floodway mitigation sub-zone and within Water Resource Subzone, which needs the City Council's approval for allowable use.
Under Article 12, Section 1 of the Davao City Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance entitled "Request for Additional Allowable Use," the uses as enumerated in the general and sub-zones are neither exhaustive nor all-inclusive.
Prior to the approval of the City council, the application was favorably recommended by the Local Zoning Board on Adjustments and Appeals through Resolution No. J-06, series of 2017.
The item passed smoothly on second and third reading without objections from councilors.
Since the item covers Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance of 2013-2022, any application of allowable use of land needs 75 percent votes of the councilors, which was duly observed.
