THE City Government of Cagayan de Oro (CDO), together with the United States Agency for International Development-Strengthening Urban Resilience for Growth with Equity (USAID-Surge) and the Land and Governance Innovations Consultants Inc., has developed a system that will provide integrated data on land and properties in the city to
investors.
The CDO Land Information System (LIS), a touch screen kiosk, is an integrated land information platform that will provide both the public and private sectors information on basic and relevant features of each lot for property rights, revenue generation, disaster risk mitigation and other socio-economic development initiatives for Cagayan de Oro City.
"What that will provide is information that will tell you whether kana syang area flood-prone ba na sya, kana bang particular area titled ba ang property, mga eskwelahan, hospital, ana nga information (that area is flood prone or the property is titled or not, the schools, hospital, those kinds of information)," Eileen San Juan, Cagayan de Oro City Investments and Promotions officer, said, adding that for protection, not all information are input in the LIS.
Zelfred Cocon, Information and Communication Technology coordinator, said LIS will also show the type of land, usability, and classification, whether the land is residential or commercial.
"Before directly going to the responsible office like the City Assessor or to the CPDO (City Planning and Development Office), the client can access the kiosk and get that initial information," Cocon said.
He said LIS has location for schools, churches, and other land marks, adding that LIS can also be helpful to those who wanted to buy properties in the city.
"Through that, ma-verify na sa investors kung ok ba na sya na location ang iyang gusto paliton na property (the investors can verify whether na location of the property they wanted to buy is ok)," Cocon said.
He said the data input in LIS is owned by the city while the system is provided by USAID.
LIS is a computer software, Cocon said, adding that for now, it's in the kiosk but eventually it will be available online.
"Kung naay investors outside, they can directly verify the location. Anywhere in the world, ma-access ang (they can access the) system. So kung naay mga balikbayan nato nga gusto mupalit og property, pwede nila ma-verify ang status sa property. Kung naay murag magpapalit sa ila pero naa na diay title ang property nga unta nila mapaliton, at least dili sila mailad pud. And ma-verify pud nila nga safe ang location sa ilang property nga paliton (So if there are balikbayans who wanted to buy property in the city, they can verify the status of the property. They won't be easily be scammed by those who sell titled properties. And they can verify if the location of the property is safe)," Cocon said.
Cocon added that the kiosk will be available in the City Hall by November and will be accessible online by next year.
