Chocolate Festival opens at SM City Davao on Oct. 12

THE 4th Davao Chocolate Festival will open a 4-day celebration of the city's cacao and its products on October 12 at the Annex Event Center of SM City Davao.

"In 2014, we had a vision of being a springboard for Davao chocolates to be known. I believe the growing numbers of our purveyors-most are returning and some new exciting additions, is a testament to the success of our campaign," said SM City Davao assistant mall manager engineer Nick Santos.

A project of SM City Davao and the Cacao Industry Development Association of Mindanao, Inc., the Davao Chocolate Festival brings together the region's best cacao growers and processors.

Exciting chocolate food concepts will be introduced by newcomers Cacao Culture, Chocoloco Inc., Auro Chocolate, Capt Du's Cacao, A&V, Johanns, Milky, Bright Side, Confex& Co., Sweets of Tirzah and Yolks. Mainstays Chocolate Bean, Comval Tropical Harvest, Malagos Chocolate, Cidami, Rosario Delicacies, Cacao De Davao, Puratos, Aromacology, Nutri Arch, Fedco, Chocolate de San Isidro, and Lara Mia will also offer Davao's favorite chocolate treats.

Apart from the chocolate market, cooking demos and lecture series on growing, processing and packaging will likewise be conducted throughout the festival dates. Kids may also discover the sweet chocolate journey from beans to bars in the scheduled kiddie tours. On Sunday, October 15, a fun day awaits the whole family for a carnival-inspired afternoon.

Fifteen chocoholics can win a golden ticket by guessing the number of golden coins or by shopping during the 3-Day Sale. Full mechanics of the "guess the number of golden coins" contest is available on SM City Davao's Facebook page.

Meanwhile, the first 14 lucky shoppers to present a single-receipt purchase of P10,000 on October 14 get a golden ticket. The ticket entitles the shopper a package of surprises from the purveyors at the country's biggest chocolate festival.
