Salug wins Hermosa Festival street dance competition

THE contingent from Salug town of the nearby Zamboanga del Norte province on Wednesday night bagged the P300,000 first prize after it won in the open category in the street dance competition of this year's Zamboanga Hermosa Festival.

The inclusion of the open category in the Hermosa Festival's street dance competition was the first to be held this year. Others are the elementary and high school and college category.

So far, three out-of-town contingents saw action in this year's festival street dances competition and aside from Salug, the other contingents were from Tampilisan, also from Zamboanga del Norte and Bayog, Zamboanga del Sur.

Contingent from Sinunuc village placed second and received P200,000, while the contingent from Tampilisan got third and went home with P100,000.

The winners in the elementary category are Putik Central School (1st), Ayala Central School (2nd), and Talon-Talon Elementary School (3rd).

In the high school and college category, the winners are Talon-Talon National High School (1st), Zamboanga City High School-Main (2nd), and Maria Clara Lorenzo Lobregat National High School (3rd).

The winners in two categories received the following prizes: first, P150,000 and a plaque; second, P100,000 and a plaque; and, third, P70,000.

There were four contingent-participants in the open category; seven in the elementary; and five in the high school and college category.
