Dancing for a cause

SOMETIMES we dance when smiles and simple gestures aren’t enough to express our happiness. Most of the time we dance for the fun of it.

In the case of Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino together with ICanServe Foundation Inc., Rotary Cebu Fuente and Royal Gem, it was a night of dancing for a good cause as they presented “Dance for Life: Twist and Shout For a Cause” last Sept. 30.

Bathed in pink, the hotel’s Arctic Room was decked ready for the event as guests indulged in food and free-flowing drinks.

Guests that night not only got to twist and shout but were also serenaded by “The Voice Kids Season 2 finalist Jolianne Salvado. They also witnessed a night of fashion as creations by fashion designers Rei Escario, Griffins Malazarte, Auguste Izhar Pepito, Jul Oliva and Hanz Coquilla were seen on the runway and modeled by women comprising personalities, influencers and breast cancer survivors/warriors who also wore jewels by renowned jewelry brand Royal Gem: Toni Pino-Oca, Jaja Chiongbian-Rama, Fely Atienza, Carrie Bascar, Ron Bernabe Flores, Prica Nina Mabatid, Beverly Dayanan, Charlita Maitland-Smith, Chip Lopez and ICanServe Foundation coordinator Mary Anne Alcordo-Solomon.

With its month-long initiative “Waterfront Goes Pink” campaign, Waterfront joins ICanServe Foundation, a non-stock, non-profit organization, as together they strive to continue the fight against breast cancer by raising breast cancer awareness as well as funds. With the Dance for Life event, guests not only danced the night away but also helped the cause as proceeds will benefit the foundation who is dedicated to aid women with breast care health and breast cancer information, as well as provide access to special services that will help breast cancer survivors heal more effectively.
