Santos Land at 46

THERE is more to one of Davao’s pioneering developers, Santos Land Development Corporation (SLDC) than just building houses in the city.

On its 46th founding anniversary, on October 15, SLDC commits to drum up its business presence in Mindanao through diversifying its business operations while maintaining excellent corporate services, something that the company is known for decades.

Taking advantage of Mindanao’s robust economic opportunities, SLDC gears toward entering new industries like hospitality and agribusiness.

“I saw the progress that has happened and is happening in Mindanao particularly in Davao Region, as president I thought, we can’t be just like this, we need to do more. So I decided to already start expanding, now we are not just limited to subdivisions, we start investing in hotels, vertical projects and agribusiness,” SLDC President Antonio Nicolas Domingo said.

He added that the management of the company is fully determined to be “competitive and proactive” to provide a wider window of opportunities for everyone who wants to do business with them.

Domingo emphasized that balance in business is essential. He recalled how their business struggled in 1997 to early 2000’s during the Asian economic crisis.

“The family for many years was just been limited to subdivision developments and we learned from that experience that we can’t put everything in one industry. Now, we are diversifying our business but we’ll make sure that everything will be given same focus,” he said.

With the new journey that SLDC will embark, the company stood firm and relevant with its corporate values -- commitment, leadership, integrity, teamwork, excellence, customer focus, quality and expertise.

As its corporate philosophy states: It is the heart of SLDC to contribute to the growth of the industry in being a professional and responsible developer and catalyst.

SLDC is a domestic corporation registered with the Securities & Exchange Commission on October 15, 1971 to engage in real estate development, subdivision, road construction and other infrastructure undertakings. As its secondary purpose, it is also authorized to engage in agri-business ventures.
