GOVERNMENT authorities have deported a Russian national for violation of immigration laws, the police reported Sunday.
Deported was Paviel Bukacel Prokhorenkov, 24, who arrived in Zamboanga City through the southern backdoor coming from Sandakan, Sabah.
Senior Superintendent Angelito Casimiro, Zamboanga City police director, said that Prokhorenkov was arrested Saturday morning while in the vicinity of a restaurant in the village of Guiwan.
Casimiro said investigation showed that Prokhorenkov travelled to Zamboanga City, as he intends to meet and marry his Filipino girlfriend, Gretchen Juevesano, who is from Tubod, Lanao del Norte.
He said the foreigner was turned over to custody of an officer of the shipping line that took him to the city for his eventual deportation back to Sandakan.
Prokhonekov’s deportation was witnessed by an officer of the Bureau of Immigration and Deportation based in the city, Casimiro added. (Bong Garcia)
