Farmer killed by nephew in La Castellana

A FARMER was stabbed to death by his nephew at Sitio Buragwak in Barangay Manghanoy, La Castellana, Negros Occidental Monday morning, October 16.

Police identified the fatality as Leo Espadera, 55, of the said village.

Investigation showed that Espadera was on his way home at 11:30 a.m. when he met suspect Jereny Jardeniano along the way.

Jardeniano attacked Espadera and escaped on foot.

Espadera was able to call for help and was rushed to a hospital, but he was declared dead.

Investigators recovered in the middle of the rice field a gas-operated improvised rifle allegedly owned by the suspect.

Police eyed grudge as the motive after Espadera complained Jardeniano to the village council over land conflict.

Espadera asked Jardeniano for a settlement, but the latter rejected it. (GYM)
