Events' organizer to pour in P5M for Kadayawan event

A CEBU-BASED party organizer is pouring in P5 million to mount what it called a "spectacular, but distinctly Davao party event" that will make this year's staging of Kadayawan sa Davao in August truly one of the country's most exciting fiestas.

Spectrum.ph has expressed so much confidence in the potential of the city that it will bring again Invasion Tour as one of the highlights of this year's Kadayawan celebration.

The same company initially mounted the event in last year's Kadayawan and its success prompted the owners to make it a yearly event, which will be held at the sprawling Davao Crocodile Park.

"Last year's staging of Invasion Tour was a huge success, based on the number of attendees that reached more than 5,000," said KazOnozawa, Spectrum.ph chief operating officer, told Sun.Star Davao in an interview.

rHe said they are confident to exceed the crowd number this year as they are massively promoting the event in other key cities in the country, such as Cebu, Iloilo, Bacolod and the National Capotal Region, as well as in Mindanao cities such as Cagayan de Oro and General Santos.

"Of course, we do expect most of the attendees to come from Davao Region. It will surely be a big tourism event that will help boost the industry in this part of the country," Onozawa said.

Although they are bringing in state-of-the-art musical equipment in a bid to provide a unique party experience for Dabawenyos, Onozawa has vowed the event will surely be "distinctly Davao."

"The moment you enter the party venue, you will experience that you are really in Davao City -- from the stage's set design to food products that will be offered at the night market," he said.

One of the components of this fiesta-themed party event will be the Fair Park Night Market that will provide partygoers "a charming and vibrant experience."

"Fair Park is where you will find local flavors, street food, refreshments, festival merchandise, and if you're lucky, a few games from the participating brands," Onozawa said.

At the same time, a live stage will be set up featuring a custom-built stage and will utilize a state-of-the-art technology. It is where the electric light and sound experience sync with the live performances by selected national and international artists plus your favorite Spectrum DJs.

"We will be infusing a cultural aspect in the show that will feature the native festival elements of Davao City. It's something that has been lost in most the festival parties and we would like to bring that back to showcase more of the culture of the city," Onozawa said.

Invasion Tour will also be brought to other major festivals in the Visayas, including the Masskara Festival in Bacilod City in October; Sinulog in Cebu City in January; Dinagyang in Iloilo City in January.
