Motor firm showcases latest innovation

YAMAHA Motor Company Limited has showcased its new latest innovation in the Davao City, the Yamaha Tricity, a global product of the company through a two-day Grand Test Ride at the Open Parking C of SM City Davao last June 27-28.

Yamaha's new innovation of modernity and elegance, Tricity is made unique by the Yamaha exclusive technology dubbed as the Leaning Multi Wheel (LMW) that allows two front wheels to deal with changes in different road surfaces while keeping both tires in contact with the road as it leans.

The test ride was staged with customized built track to showcase the full ability and features of Tricity. More than 500 participants joined the test ride.

"The test ride was under supervision by Yamaha certified instructors. The participants went through a detailed briefing of the course and an evaluation of their riding skills before experiencing the custom-made test ride track," Peter Salvadico, Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd, Mindanao sales manager, said Saturday.

Actor Gerald Anderson took the Yamaha Tricity around the track to try the new model with unique style and innovative technology.

"I find it very unique, a head turner ride. You'll stand out on the road when you riding this (Tricity). You are really in control when driving," Anderson said.

Around 500 riders participated in the two-day test drive, more than what the organizers expected.

The new model has an overall length of 1,905mm, width of 735mm and height of 1,215mm with an electric starting system. It is available in all Yamaha 3s Shops nationwide with a suggested retail price (SRP) of P146,000 and comes in matte red and white color.

"We have a total of 226 3s Shops, 34 of which are in Mindanao," Salvadico said, adding that the '3S' stands for 'Sales, Services and Spare parts.

Salvadico said Yamaha is also set to introduce more motorcycle models this year.

"We will introduce another set of new models in the Philippine market this year," he added. (ASP)
