Indian national, another man killed in shooting

AN INDIAN national and another man died after they allegedly shot each other at Purok 3, Barangay Granada, Bacolod City Monday night, October 16.

Chief Inspector Sherlock Gabana, head of Police Station 5, identified the fatalities as Sulakhan Singh, 35 and Bertito Gersaba, 50.

Gabana said Singh saw Gersaba armed with a firearm, reportedly following his wife, who disembarked from their vehicle to get money from a borrower around 7 p.m.

He confronted Gersaba that led to a commotion and an exchange of gun fire.

Both were rushed to a hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

Gabana said they cannot yet determine the motive because there were no witnesses.

“Even Singh’s wife could not tell if there was an intention to rob her,” the station chief said.

Gabana said investigators did not recover firearms, but they will also probe if both victims possessed licensed guns.

He added that Gersaba had previous records for alarm and scandal, but not robbery or hold-up cases.

“We will continue to investigate what really transpired that night because it is possible that it was a case of mistaken identity," Gabana said.
