THE Mandaue City Jail (MCJ) held two successive greyhound operations or spot inspections this week, and in both inspections no illegal drugs were found on the inmates.
Jail Warden Reynante Rubio attributed these results to the tight security measures implemented in the facility and his constant advice to the personnel not to get involved in the illegal drug operation.
“I told them that anyone who will be involved in illegal drugs will be transferred. But I would prefer that an administrative or criminal case will be filed against them,” said Rubio.
During the inspection of the detention cells for all the 1,864 inmates at 4 a.m. yesterday, the joint team composed of personnel from MCJ, Mandaue City Police Office, and Special Weapons and Tactics found and confiscated two cellular phones, some improvised items, razor blades and ballpens.
The operation ended at 7 a.m.
Rubio said that another operation was held over the weekend, which also yielded no illegal drugs.
“The inmates have learned their lessons. In the past, most of the persons that brought in illegal drugs were their visitors,” said Rubio. (FMG)
