Chinese airlines start Clark-Shanghai flights

CLARK FREEPORT -- The China Eastern Airlines (MU) has started its daily Clark-Shanghai flights.

Chen Li Wei, marketing head of MU Philippine operations and Clark International Airport Corporation (CIAC) President Alexander Cauguiran led the send-off ceremonies at the passenger terminal of Clark airport on Wednesday, October 18.

Last month, MU officials announced during the airline’s launching ceremonies at Park Inn by Radisson Clark their new route which expected to boost the tourism industry of both countries.

Since 2013, MU has been operating its Manila-Pudong Shanghai flights.

Chen said the airline was drawn to Clark because of the Duterte administration’s plan to expand the CRK terminal and build a railway from Manila to CRK.

Rendy Isip, head of CIAC communications department, said the new route is between Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG) and Clark International Airport (CRK).

PVG is one of the two international airports of Shanghai and a major aviation hub of China.
