TELUS named ‘CSR Company of the Year’ at Asia CEO Awards 2017

RECOGNIZED for its success in providing exceptional Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs, leading BPO provider TELUS International Philippines was awarded the CSR Company of the Year at the Asia CEO Awards 2017.

The CSR Company of the Year award honors TELUS International Philippines for its far-reaching efforts in promoting programs and development projects that have made an impactful contribution to the Filipino community. The annual ceremony awards the most accomplished leadership teams and individuals operating in the Philippines and the South East Asian region.

“Our CSR philosophy is ‘we give where we live’. To be recognized for our efforts is a great honor, most especially for our fellow team members who devote their time to drive positive change in local communities,” said Warren Tait, TELUS International Philippines’ Vice-President for Brand, Marketing and Culture.

With over 12,000 team members across five sites in Metro Manila, TELUS International Philippines is known for its longstanding partnerships with numerous foundations such as Bantay Bata, Gawad Kalinga, Virlanie Foundation and Hands on Manila — bringing its unique caring culture outside the organization to the communities where its team members live, work and serve.

“Our commitment to CSR is part of our culture, one of the most valuable components of our business and an integral part of our company’s success. We are deeply committed to the Philippines and the communities where we work and where we recruit our current and future team members,” said Mr. Tait.

Criteria for judging includes the company’s leadership commitment in sponsoring CSR projects for their own respective organizations, sustainability of its programs, workforce involvement, relevance of the project, and its social impact in society.

A Culture of Caring

One of TELUS International Philippines’ most well-known CSR programs is its annual TELUS Days of Giving, where thousands of team members and senior leaders work hand-in-hand to build houses, revamp elementary schools, visit orphanages or homes for the elderly, and engage in other noteworthy activities. In 2016, the TELUS International Philippines’ TELUS Days of Giving was selected by the Director General of the Philippines Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) to receive the 2016 PEZA Outstanding Community Project Award.

In 2012, the company also set up its very own flagship program, the TELUS International Philippines Community Board, an innovative corporate philanthropy model, which to date has granted nearly US$400,000 to 43 local grassroots organizations and charities focusing on youth welfare, health, education and the environment.

Last year, the TELUS International Philippines Community Board enabled the construction of 15 public facilities consisting of schools and health centers located in various provinces in the Philippines. These community board efforts benefitted approximately 16,650 children including students, pediatric patients struggling with chronic illnesses, children with learning disabilities, and ethnic minority groups.
