CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The Best Western Bendix Hotel and Specktrum PH will facilitate the first energy summit in Central Luzon on October 24 to encourage more businessmen and homeowners to use renewable energy.
In partnership with the City Governments of San Fernando and Angeles, the summit, dubbed as "Enerhiya Para King Panyulung," will focus on the advantages of having renewable energy sources in terms of budget cost-cutting, efficiency and environmental benefits.
Rion Patawaran, owner of the Best Western Bendix Hotel -- tagged as the first “green” hotel in this capital city -- said the management is able to save at least P50,000 in their monthly energy consumption through the use of solar panels.
"We have the capacity of around 40 kilowatts of power generation from the solar panels and that gives P50,000 savings or one third of our supposed total monthly electricity bill," Patawaran said.
He said the hotel also benefits from the five-year tax incentive of the City Government of San Fernando to business establishments that use renewable energy sources.
This is aside from the positive effects of using renewable energy sources to the environment, especially that Pampanga has been facing flooding problems aggravated by climate change, Patawaran added.
"That is why we are encouraging other business owners not only in Pampanga but from other provinces as well because we know and we are experiencing the benefits and hopefully, we will be able to do so through this energy summit," he said.
Specktrum PH Chief Operating Officer Anna Maniego said the energy summit also aims to properly introduce to Central Luzon the advantages and benefits of using renewable energy sources.
She said that many people, especially residential owners, do not still welcome the idea of renewable energy sources, citing the lack of proper knowledge on the system.
"We invited several trusted resource speakers for the summit and we invited not only business owners but end-users as well so that we can achieve our goal of cascading the proper information about renewable energy," she said.
The Enerhiya Para King Panyulung will be held at Best Western Bendix Hotel in the afternoon of October 24.
Some of the expected participants are officials from the City Governments of San Fernando and Angeles and representatives from the Department of Energy.
