TWO men were arrested for carrying unlicensed firearms in separate operations in Cebu City.
Senior Inspector Narrolf Tan, the Cebu City Intelligence Branch deputy chief, identified the suspects as Santiago Lopez Alegarbes, 50, and Roben Malinao Palermo, 22.
Alegarbes was caught in A. Lopez St., Barangay Calamba at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, October 19. He yielded a .38 revolver loaded with two bullets.
At 12:30 a.m. Friday, October 20, Palermo was captured in Barangay Ermita.
Seized from him were a .38 revolver loaded with two bullets and 10 packs containing white crystalline substance believed to be methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as "shabu," worth P4,720, a Dangerous Drugs Board estimate.
Tan said they caught Palermo and Alegarbes residents informed them that the suspects were carrying guns.
Suspects will be charged with illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
A separate complaint of violating Section 11 (possession of illegal drugs) of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, will be filed against Palermo. (KAL/SunStar Cebu)
