A quiet morning at BGC

WE were on our last day in Manila and were going home later in the afternoon. It was time to explore beyond the confines of SM Aura where we spent three days discussing and selling art at the ManilArt17 where buddy Kublai was the featured artist.

Kublai’s wife Maan had booked an AirBNB condo unit at BGC for all of us, thus, the early morning hours of a quiet Sunday, long before majority of the people were up and about, Kublai, Satori, and I were gawking at the art installations at BGC in Taguig.

There was the vinta-like installation at the center island in P. Gomez Circle, the marker of which was apparently removed by some vandal.

The sundial entitled “Kasaysayan Bawat Oras by Juan Sajid Imao and the “Coming into Being” sculpture of construction workers by Daniel dela Cruz.

Seeing these installations sparked our dream of having art in traffic islands in Davao City, but that will have to wait awhile because…

There’s breakfast to think about.

As it was not yet 10 a.m., just about every place was closed except your regular convenience stores and McDonald’s. But then we saw Green Pastures.

Green Pastures apparently prides itself in serving organically grown food and artisan breads.

Satori got the pork belly that you squirt with sweetish vinegar. Kublai and I got the green egg omelet topped with locally sourced coffee.

It was a perfect breakfast for that quiet morning, a time out from the rush the Metro Manila is all about. It was also… mahal. No, make that Manila price. Kublai went home over P1,200 poorer for two omelets, two cups of coffee, and pork belly that you squirt vinegar on, served by very friendly waiters. It made going home even more exciting.
