DAVAO City First District Representative Karlo Nograles said the House committee on appropriations which he chairs is waiting for the result of the feasibility study for the proposed Negros-Panay bridge project.
Nograles, who visited Bacolod City Sunday, October 22, said in a press conference that a feasibility study is being conducted on the bridge that it is being studied by the National Economic and Development Authority.
“It would be a government to government project between the Philippines and China and maybe the Philippine government will have a counterpart fund,” the lawmaker said.
As present, Nograles said he is not yet certain if there is a budget appropriated for the project, which needs a bigger budget.
The lawmaker said that Congress plans to convene into a Constituent Assembly (Con Ass) on January 2018 for the proposed federal form of government.
He said they are still studying the possibility whether the House of Representatives will convene into a ConAss separate from the Senate or they will convene as one and do the constitutional amendments and form a parliament.
On his inclusion in the senatorial line-up of Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) for the 2019 elections, Nograles said that he will abide by the President and the party's decision.
“We’re still undergoing the process of selection. I don’t know what happens during the filing of the certificate of candidacy. I said to the President I want to help his administration,” he added.
Nograles is the son of former House Speaker Prospero Nograles.
