Chief supports relief of Talisay cops

POLICE Regional Office-Central Visayas Director Jose Mario Espino said on Monday, October 23, that he supports the relief and retraining of the 73 police personnel of Talisay City, Cebu.

He said he is supporting the decision of Superintendent Jason Villamater, the Talisay city police chief, to retrain some of the personnel and transfer others to other units.

Espino said the relief and retraining will be done in batches, saying it would be difficult to do it at once.

"Those who are lacking in performance will be recommended for retraining," said Espino, who clarified that the move is not a punishment, adding that it will be done to remind the officers about the new procedures and to refresh their skills.

Espino said he is waiting for the proposal from Villamater, who wants to attain maximum utilization of his personnel.

“I have been challenging our policemen, not only in Talisay, but all other police stations to really reduce the crime statistics," he said.

Talisay City Mayor Eduard Gullas said he will support the replacement of the 73 personnel. (KAL/SunStar Cebu)
