Neda Western Visayas accepts entries in search of outstanding volunteers

The National Economic and Development Authority (Neda) regional office in Iloilo City is accepting entries to the 2015 Search for Outstanding Volunteers (SOV) organized by the Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA).

The yearly search aims to give recognition to ordinary Filipino citizens and organizations who have contributed extraordinary milestones for the country through their small, yet invaluable, acts of service towards nation building and national development.

The SOV is the yearly centerpiece event culminating with the celebration of the National Volunteer Month (NVM) every December.

PNVSCA Director Joselito De Vera said that through the SOV, PNVSCA gives importance to volunteerism as a platform to encourage people and groups to offer their services, talents and expertise as development partners of the government.

It also aims to harness the spirit of “bayanihan” to make a difference in the lives of the people and communities.

Since its inception in 2011, 119 volunteers and volunteer organizations have been recognized by the national government.

Acceptance of nominations is ongoing for the individual and organization categories and the Volunteer Lifetime Achievement Award until July 20, 2015. (LCP/Sunnex)
