DAVAO City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio urged Filipinos to set aside “personal politics” and allow the country to develop.
“Let us set aside our personal politics that has torn our country every time we have a new president. Sinisira natin ang bansa natin, let us change that,” she said during her speech aired live through Facebook by Councilor Mary Joselle Villafuerte.
During the Tapang at Malasakit launch on Monday, October 22, Duterte-Carpio stressed that the real problems of the country are criminals and terrorists.
“We can be individually positive, pwede namang magkalaban tayo but you can be positive in your community. You can do everything in your power to be positive catalysts of your community,” she said.
Duterte-Carpio said the goal is to improve the country and not place the country in bad light.
“Huwag nating gawing negative ang Pilipinas. Let us work together, individually in troops, in communities to make change happen,” she said.
Duterte-Carpio slammed the accusations against the Duterte administration, saying that most of the accusations are based on lies and has placed the country in negative light.
The Davao City Mayor said people should focus on path of making the country competitive in the Asean instead.
She added that there are only five years left to see change in the country.
“Five years to push and push and see change in five years. Yun lang ang time natin, kailangan nating magtulong-tulong. Let us make positive voice in communities and let us stand together for our country,” Duterte-Carpio said.
Tapang and Malasakit is an alliance for the Philippines composed of people who supported Rodrigo Duterte when he ran for President. They also pledged to be unrelenting even after he was installed as the 16th President of the Philippines.
Aside from the mayor, Davao City Councilors Danilo Dayanghirang, Mary Joselle Villafuerte and April Marie Dayap were also present during the launch of the Tapang and Malasakit on Monday in Taguig City.
