A COUPLE was arrested in an operation against a butane canister refilling station in Barangay Looc, Mandaue City last Sunday afternoon.
The Mandaue City Police Office-City Intelligence Branch (MCPO-CIB) caught Wellyn Boy Bacamo, 23, and his live-in partner, Rojane Mary Galo, 21, within the compound of the refilling station at Ouano Wharf.
Bacamo and Galo, who are residents in Zone II in Barangay Canduman, are allegedly employees of the station that manufactured liquefied petroleum gas (LPG)-refilled butane canisters.
In a text message, Senior Insp. Mercy Villaro, spokesperson of the MCPO, said the refilling station belonged to a certain Chris Macabo, who was not present during the raid.
Villaro said they got a report through their Texthang system that an illegal manufacturer of butane canisters was in the area.
“We validated the information so CIB immediately conducted an operation just a few hours after it was reported,” Villaro said in Cebuano.
After they got the information that morning, CIB, led by Senior Insp. Marvin Fegarido, carried out the operation at 3:45 p.m.
Fegarido’s team confiscated 14 LPG tanks, three digital weighing scale, 223 butane canisters from the refilling station and seven notebooks containing transactions.
Bacamo and Galo were charged with violations of Presidential Decree 1865. They were temporarily detained at the Mandaue Police Station 1.
Villaro said only the couple were arrested because other employees were not on duty at that time for it was a Sunday. (FMG)
