Review Pad: BLK Cosmetics

AS HOLLYWOOD celebrities start to launch their very own beauty product lines, Philippine artists in the country are also starting to do the same.

Just like Kapamilya Showtime host Anne Curtis who recently launched her own line BLK Cosmetics. I have recently bought some of her products and here are my thoughts on it.

About the brand

Anne shares during her different interviews that “BLK” stands for the color black as it is “something timeless, elegant, and uncomplicated.”

Partnering with business woman and beauty enthusiast JacqeYuengtian Gutierrez, both of them work hand in hand which brought BLK Cosmetics to life.

BLK Cosmetics, according to the Filipino-Aussie Celebrity, aims to empower women through making beauty easy and affordable.

“Uncomplicated Beauty”

BLK Cosmetics lives by their slogan of “Uncomplicated Beauty” wherein they believe that as long as you use top quality products – “less is more.” This is why they have launched only the essential products for their first drop. Their products include: Eyebrow pencil, liquid eyeliner, matte powder foundation, liquid matte lipstick, matte lipstick, velvet lipstick and a contour-highlight-blush palette.

For this review I have only brought their products which I mostly need and wanted to try at the same time: liquid eyeliner in brown, contour-highlight-blush palette in flushed which is my shade and one of their liquid matte lipsticks in sophisticated/nude pink. I brought them online from Zalora but you can also order directly from their website.

Pros and Cons

Since I am going to share about three products, we will just base it on the main goal of the brand which is “Uncomplicated Beauty.”

Was it really uncomplicated?

After using it for a couple of days I can say that the product has more pros than cons.

Long Lasting Liquid Matte Lipstick

Pros: The shades available are really perfect for Filipina skin and I truly loved Sophisticated since it’s just like my lip color but better! Also the formula is not that thick, easy to apply, truly long lasting sand most of all it does not have a strong scent like other liquid matte lippies that I’ve tried.

Cons: The only con that I can think on this is that both the box and container is kinda hard to open for the first time, it’s not a big deal though but just be careful as you might end up spilling some of that precious lippie.

Long Lasting Liquid Eyeliner in Brown

Pros: The fine point tip is really of top quality and makes applying liquid eyeliner a breeze and it’s brown shade is pigmented enough and long lasting as long as you let it dry.

Con: It takes quite a while to dry so I suggest putting it on after your foundation to make sure. Another is that it is not waterproof so it smudged when I sweat or when my lids get oily.

Contour-Highlight-Blush Palette in Flushed

Pros: I have used cream contours for the longest time and their powder contour is really a good change for me. Their blush and highlight is also pretty and perfect for everyday use. I can also say that it can be used by those people with sensitive skin since even though the blush and highlight had glitters, it didn’t irritate my skin.

Cons: The contour isn’t pigmented enough for me but this is more a personal preference.

All of the products share this common pro: It is budget friendly (P349 - lipstick, P249 – eyeliner, P499 – palette), their products are animal cruelty-free and the packaging is classic and chic and the same time.

The Verdict

With the brand’s simple line of products I can say that it truly is beauty made simple for its price and quality. There are still rooms for improvement but for the most part I still give BLK Cosmetics two-thumbs up!
