Taxi driver robbed, shot dead in Cebu village

A TAXI driver, who was a retired police officer, was robbed and shot dead by his three passengers past 11 p.m. Tuesday, October 24, on Fifth Street in Happy Valley, Barangay Labangon, Cebu City.

Police identified the fatality as Jose Medrano Sering Jr., 56.

He succumbed to gunshot wounds on the right portion of his temple and right side of his body.

A security guard told the police he heard two gun bursts before the victim's body was found.

According to police, Sering possibly tried to fight off the culprits before he was shot twice.

Sering was an employee of Ken Taxi. He was resident of Barangay Pajac, Lapu-Lapu City. (KAL/SunStar Cebu)
