Kenyans in Cebu 42K

THRILLED in watching Simon Losiaboi terrorize Cebu’s foot races for the past two months?

How about seeing six more Kenyans in Cebu’s first ever full marathon this Sunday?

The race, which could end Losiaboi’s winning streak, will likely see another Kenyan winner.

Losiaboi will run his first-ever 42K race and will be joined by Willy Tanui, David Kipsang, Kimber Keberes and Susan Chepkwony, while Willy Rotich and Jonathan Cheboi will race in the 21K.

Meanwhile, Cebu’s most decorated runner Roy Vence of Bogo City will lead the Filipinos in defending the home turf against the world renowned runners.

Vence, a six-time Milo national marathon champion, will be joined by Mendel Lopez, Cresenciano Sabal, Rene Desuyo, Rey Antoque, Crifrankreadel Indapan, Elmer Bartolo, Angelito Sibayan and Mendel Lopez among others in trying to prevent the Kenyans from dominating the first-ever Cebu City full marathon.

In the women’s side, Chepkwony will be battling with Aileen Tolentino, Mary Grace de los Santos, Ellen Tolentino and Madelyn Carter.

Kipsang was among the eight Kenyan runners who dominated the 2nd Subic International Marathon, while Sabal finished fifth at the Quezon City Internatinal Marathon.

Tolentino also placed fourth at the QCIM and was third at the Subic International.

As of yesterday, some 3,050 runners have signed up for the race and the number is expected to grow as the organizers extended the registration period in the 5K division.
